About Jazz Knights

Jazz Knight sessions are organised by Evie Em-Jay (Evonne Jackson) who had the honour of working with local legend and Jazz promoter David Knight for over 10 years. He brought joy to a huge amount of Jazz fans over more than 30 years. From his days organising gigs at his pub, The True Heart, to his last years with Evie at Bakerstreet Jazz Club, he was completely devoted to Jazz, a one-off character, and an encyclopedia of Jazz knowledge. David passed away in 2016, and Evie has carried on his work in his name with regular Jazz & Blues sessions in the South West. The ever-popular Bakerstreet Jazz club Tuesday sessions are now held at The Royal Oak, Old Town, Swindon.

David Knight in his own words;
”I’ve been enjoying the smooth sound of jazz for over 60 years; Armstrong, Ellington, Mingus, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Miles Davis…. some I’ve had the privilege of seeing – all I’ve appreciated. And although Swindon is hardly downtown New Orleans, we’ve some very special talent right here on our doorstep – Jamie Cullum et al. And some great regular jazz nights every single week.”
